GLR allows us to become more intimate with the author through his writing process. As we follow the methodology that the author uses we relive his struggles and experience his solutions. From the earliest reconstruction of a draft to the final product, the writing habits that the author had while constructing their work is revealed. It allows us to see what was and wasn’t important to the author. This is also true for documents written by multiple authors, as it allows us to focus on the authors as individuals, and reveals how later scribes treated their writings when they placed them into a collection.
